The ambition was to create a brand that inspired existing fans, whilst also attracting a new generation of fans; both from Basel and beyond. We needed to challenge the club’s current mindset and build a brand which helps drive a positive club culture - from the inside out.
The new brand identity is inspired by the cities strong art scene and the creative fan culture which makes FC Basel so unique. Drawing inspiration from fan art in and around St. Jakob Park we created the identity around the concept of ‘The Basel Canvas’. Inspired by the creative fan culture of FC Basel a range of textured backgrounds, brush marks, fan iconography and club inspired patterns were produced to create an expressive graphics toolkit, resulting in an exciting and avant-garde aesthetic. This aesthetic embodies the spirit of being a ‘Basler’; proud, creative and defiant. They do things differently. A vibrant application of Red and Blue stay’s true to FC Basel’s heritage whilst also embodying the bold change of positioning. Moving forward with character, and celebrating the past.
